Description
Item up for sale is the original & complete, 22 page, January 20th, 1953, edition of the Spokesman-Review, a Spokane, Washington state daily; the lead story of the day was of the inauguration of the 34th president of the United states of America, Dwight D. Eisenhower. The soldier-statesman's fame would precede him, particularly his service during the Second World war, where he would attain the rank of five star general. His greatest achievement came during the war, where as Supreme Commander of the Allied expeditionary Forces, he oversaw the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. Although a logistical nightmare, given the vast volume of men and materials assembled to cross the English Channel, from England to the French beaches of Normandy, the gamble paid off in spades. The war would come to an end in less then one year, as Berlin, the Nazi capital was assailed. This newspaper shows just how the likeable General's appeal with the common man paid off, as it propelled him to the pinnacle of power as President of the United States. This newspaper is readable and can easily be displayed.
