Description
Set of five 8-piece dinner size place settings plus two serving spoons and two extra forks.Rare pattern; high quality and heavy; beautifully and expertly hand engraved with scrolls, leaves and flowers.
Forty four pieces total.
Six 8" forks (76 grams each).
Six 7" forks (61 grams each).
Five 7" salad forks (52 grams each).
Five 9-5/8" knives (blades seem to be silverplated)(74 grams each).
Five 8-1/2" knives (blades seem to be silverplated)(58 grams each).
Five 5-1/2" butter knives (sterling blades, shown in photos 4 and 5)(28 grams each).
Five 7-1/8" soup spoons (60 grams each).
Five 5-7/8" dessert spoons (38 grams each).
Two 8-1/2" serving spoons (77 grams each).
Most pieces are marked "
STERLING, SPAULDING & CO." along with the Durgin "script D" mark.
Pattern No. 19 - B, introduced in 1912 by silversmith Wm B Durgin Co, which had been absorbed into Gorham in 1906. Gorham continued the use of the "script D" mark until ca. 1930.
Spaulding & Co was a manufacturer and retailer of jewelry, silverplate and sterling ware in Chicago, IL.
