Item up for sale is an original edition of the May 24th, 1931, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sunday Tribune; among the lead stories is one concerning sergeant Alvin York, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions in the Meuse-Argonne offensive in WW I France, one of the final major battles of that conflict. It was said that then corporal York and his much depleted outfit neutralized 35 German machine guns, and that York personally killed 25 of the enemy and he and his men captured another 132. The Pall Mall Tennessee backwoodsman was a crack shot in the order of Daniel Boone who also hailed from those parts. The article in this newspaper involves an interview of one of the soldiers that was on the scene in 1918 in the Argonne whose account of the action somewhat minimizes York's version of the action. Alvin York would become a national hero, as well as a hero overseas. This is a great 87 year old item that is fully described above. It has become somewhat brittle with age, but is basically intact. This is a rear find.
