Frankie Groves of Stinnettt, TEXAS was the first high school girl known to have played high school football in the US. She played as a lineman (or linewoman?) against Grove High School in a Nov, 1947 game. Soon after the game the Texas Board of Education formally banned girls from playing high school football. This ban was not lifted until 1993.
