    This is a vintage original issue of the Anchorage Daily Times newspaper with the block capital headline
    WE’RE IN – 64-20 VOTE MAKES ALASKA 49th STATE
    .
    This is the fully complete two section newspaper measuring about 17” x 23.   The masthead indicates “EXTRA” and “20 Pages”.  This newspaper is fully complete with the front page section of ten pages and the second section of 10 pages making 20 pages total.
    This newspaper was issued following the United States Senate ratifying the Alaska Statehood Act on June 30, 1958 which was the final barrier needed to admit Alaska to The Union.  A week later President Eisenhower signed the bill making it law and on January 3, 1959 signed the official proclamation formally admitting Alaska as the 49th state.   Passage in the US Senate was really the last major hurdle needed to admit Alaska which is what is celebrated here with this vintage original issue of the Anchorage Daily Times.
    This newspaper is fully complete and has been folded and has some wear on the edges and along the fold line and some short tears and toning from age.  The newspaper could be framed and would make a nice display.   Email any questions.  Thanks for looking.
