    Description

This is a single page (pages 33 & 34) from the Tuesday, September 18, 1951 New York Times depicting "This is how the first page of the New York Times appeared to its readers one hundred years ago today".  In 1851 the newspaper was called the New-York Daily Times.  The page is dominated by "The News from Europe".  The back of the reproduction contains wedding announcements and the results of the New York State bar examinations given in July.  There are also seven advertisements.
The sheet is tanned and fragile with age.  It has been folded in eighths (and will be shipped that way), so is heavily creased.  The edges are torn in places.  This comes from a smoke-free home collection.
