Description

Antique Tiffany & Co., Gilded Age, unusual large openwork, sterling silver .925, bonbon server (
bonbonnieres=containers for bon-bons to be passed around by the handle), cast in high relief, in a floral scroll pattern, & is NOT monogrammed. The exqui
site terminal is formed as a Lyre musical instrument, & the bowl has openwork flowers & scrolls. The only one I could find like it was donated to the Collection of the New York Historical Society by Isabel Shults, daughter of Caroline Beard Shults (barnard.edu). There is also a large piece, on page 282, figure 423, with a bowl much like this one, in the Tiffany Silver Flatware book by William P. Hood Jr. The server measures approximately 12 1/2 inches long, 5 3/4 inches wide across the bowl, weighs 11.865 ozt., & is marked Tiffany & Co T (directorship Charles L. Tiffany) Sterling Silver.
The server is in very good antique estate condition as follows;
NO DENTS OR REPAIRS. THERE IS SOME LIGHT SCRATCHING & WEAR  WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH THE AGE OF THE PIECE & NORMAL USAGE. THERE IS GLARE & REFLECTION IN SOME OF THE 11 PHOTOS.
